No fewer than 8,000 women on Thursday matched to the Zamfara
Hisbah Commission, seeking the state government’s assistance to enable
them to get married.
Led by the Chairperson of the Zamfara Widows Association, Hajiya
Suwaiba Isa, and the patron, Alhaji Sa’idu Goshe, the women said they
were not living a normal life and needed husbands to become whole.
“Many of us cannot afford two meals in a day because there are no men
to support us,” they said.
The patron said the association had over 8,000 women, comprising
5,380 divorcees, 2,200 widows, 1,200 orphans and 80 others, whom he
said, were looking for men to marry.
He said the women also needed assistance to purchase household items
such as beds, mattresses and other basic necessities needed to move to
their husbands’ houses.
Goshe appealed to the commission to assist the association in screening
suitors for the women.
He said the screening would determine the suitors’ health status, source
of livelihood and ability to maintain a family.

The Premier League has witnessed it’s first sacking of the season with just 5 games played, with Sunderland sacking manager Paolo di Canio.
The 45-year-old Italian has won three of his 13 matches since being appointed in March and taken only one point from five league games this campaign.
Sunderland said they will decide on Di Canio’s successor in “due course”.
Coach Kevin Ball will take temporary charge of the team, with ex-Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo an early favourite for the job.
Former Brighton manager Gus Poyet is also believed to be a contender but he has refused to comment on reports linking him to the post.
Di Canio’s dismissal leaves Sunderland looking for their sixth permanent manager in less than five years.
The Italian’s backroom team of first-team coach Fabrizio Piccareta, goalkeeping coach Domenico Doardo, fitness coach Claudio Donatelli and physio Giulio Viscardi will also leave the Stadium of Light outfit.
Sunderland’s statement added: “The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paolo and his staff and wishes them well for the future.”
The Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo joined the appointed
team of delegates for Federal Government today in a bid to end
the 80 days #ASUUstrike.
The Vice president, personally led the delegate of the FG in a
meeting between ASUU and the FG yesterday, 19th of Septemeber
2013.
Although the issues discussed are still unknown and we are still
not sure if government is willing to add to the initial N130bn but
his involvement in the meeting is as a result of Government’s
willingness in finding solution to the prolonged strike. We do
hope there is some sort of resolve with him joining the team of
delegates.
World’s fastest man (& Manchester United self proclaimed fan) –
Usain Bolt promised to make Manchester City & Argentina’s star
striker Sergio Aguero faster with some drills and speed tips, but
instead Bolt‘s main aim was to wear him out to neutralise his
potential danger ahead of Sunday’s Manchester derby on 22
September.
After the training session, organised by PUMA for the launch of
their evoSPEED 1.2 football boot this week, Bolt admitted that
Manchester United would have to be careful of Aguero’s threat,
because he said that no matter what he tried – press-ups, chasing
poorly placed passes & extensive jogging, he just couldn’t wear
out the Argentine.
“Sergio’s caused United a lot of problems over the years, so I
thought I’d drop in on him to see if I could tire him before the
game on Sunday,” he said.
“But turns out he’s pretty fit. I have to admit I was impressed
with his qualities, United definitely need to keep him quiet but
I’m sure they can do that and get 3 points.”
Aguero said: “Usain was terrible at the beginning, but I realised
after a while that he was just trying to wear me out.
“When he started to play properly, he showed some skills though.
He is not good enough to play for City, but I think he would have
a good chance of getting into the United team.”
There seems to be every reason for this promising Nigerian
musician to actually be high as things are falling into place for
him in quick succession, Mayokun Awodunmila popularly known
as May D who recently returned from his trip to United States of
America, just released the video of his hit song “Get Down” last
week and the video is gradually taking over the airwaves.
The Ekiti State born music sensation also recently, moved into his
new 6-bedroom duplex in Magodo Phase II GRA. The Ile Ijo
master as scaled through so many huddles which ordinarily would
have taken his musical exploit to premature end but rather he
seems to have re-strategized has now released his third video
under his Confam Entertainment label with his two previous
videos; “So Many Tinz” and “Gat Me High” recorded huge success.
May D who can at the moment boast of almost seven singles that
enjoyed massive playing time across the country had in February
2013, released ‘So Many Tinz’, which is officially last single he
dropped before the release of his album, which took place in
Abuja, the federal capital territory where has for sometimes now
become the second home of the music star.
The artiste who hit the limelight when he released his hit single
“Ile-Ijo” has also achieved personal success with other tracks like;
“Gat Me High”, “So Many Tinz” amongst others and he has
featured in songs of other Nigerian and international artistes like;
Akon, Iyanya, Davido, South African singing duoMafikizolo and
many more. Though he was known as a dancer in his early days
but he was able to gather popularity doing music and the recent
release of “Get Down” video is at the moment gathering cloud
which invariably means the song is gradually becoming a success
against the belief that the talented singer will find making hits
difficult, Indeed he is a sure boy.
